Part One of my western trip has been wonderful. My flight from Cleveland to Dallas to Jackson went without a hitch. Although there were thunderstorms all around we were able to fly between them apparently. I got in to Jackson at about 9:00pm and met Maribeth. We had an easy (albeit 1 1/2 hour) trip to her house...
...which is pictured above. I took this photo as we headed up the road on Tuesday morning to dig wild flowers for the gardens we were planning.
It was a gorgeous morning and we had a pretty successful trip. The wildflowers are in beautiful bloom and we collected enough to get started.
I don't know what most of them are and Maribeth has already packed away her
books so we don't have an easy way to identify them.
I have lots of pictures of the Wind River. It is flowing fast and high and it is just
beautiful. We went up on Horse Creek (think Butch Cassidy) on Tuesday and collected more flowers. There are many famous ranches in this area and lots of famous commercials made here. Think Budweiser and the Marlboro commercials. The Budweiser Clydesdales are trained right down the road. Lots of history in this area.
We collected more wildflowers here also.
Walt Disney's ranch is up here and his Diamond D cattle, one of the
original, best brands of beef cattle.
This cool plant, named Broom is really cool looking, but especially wicked. It will choke a horse to death.
Wednesday Rick took us up to Union Pass. One of the first passes built for motor vehicles. However, our goal was to....yep, gather wildflowers! We stopped at the Park office and bought a pass to dig 3 trees. Hunter and Mackenzie arrived Tuesday evening with Rick, so we enjoyed their company as well :-)
Hunter was the photographer here and he wanted a funny picture.
If our gardens at the house turn out this beautiful they will be in the next blog.
This is a picture from M & R's back deck. I am having a great visit! The company is good, the dogs are entertaining, the scenery is to die for, the weather is perfect! We are putting finishing touches on the front of the house - curb appeal. It has been fun.
Saturday morning Maribeth and I are headed to Rock Springs to visit with Megan and James, and Malia and Ryan.
Love you all, Mom
