Hello from Flagstaff

Day 2 - Spring Break: We'll go back to day 1 later; there were too many pictures to select from! We spent the night at the historic Weatherford Inn after a pleasant drive from Blue Diamond to Flagstaff. We had lunch at a neat little restaurant that Adam knew about and then hit the shops. The downtown area is delightfully walkable and looks like it has had an EG&G streetscape. It is touristy but not overly, nice shops and galleries, lots of eateries. All in all, a very nice afternoon

Night shot of the historic Weatherford.

It is billed as an "entertainment" hotel. The bar was open on Tuesday night till 2:00 and it was busy till then...the music and bar noise was a not unpleasant sound in our room which was 2 floors above. And the trains rumbled through town throught the night:-)Our room was on the 3rd floor and the lovely balcony was accessed by 2 doors, the one you see and its sister door around the corner, which is where our room is. There was a bar and ballroom (both origional and restored) on the 3rd floor and it would be a great place for a party (max 50). Unfortunately, it was a little too cool to sit outside.
No TV, no phone, but who needs 'em? Some of the rooms had their own bathrooms, but ours did not - again, not for everyone, I guess, but we didn't mind. The radiator heat kicked on during the night and it worked VERY well!!

The room was pretty "rustic" but did the job. After breakfast in the hotel dining room - also origional and restored (mmmmmm, french toast is on the menu) we will continue our trip - about an hour more to the South Rim. Weather report is partly sunny, high 60. Love you all and wish you all were here!
